A 59-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a konbini clerk and destroying the cash register out of anger after the store failed to open on time.
On September 19th, the Hyogo Prefectural Police’s Kobe Minakami Station arrested the unemployed man for assault and property damage after he allegedly kicked and punched a clerk at a konbini.
The suspect was arrested shortly after 2:00 a.m. on September 19th at a konbini located in the Chuo Ward of Kobe after kicking a 64-year-old male part-time employee in the stomach and punching him in the face before pulling down the register and rendering it unusable.
The man admitted to the charges, saying, “There is no doubt that I did what I did.”
According to the police report, the store was closed late at night between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. the man said, “I got angry because it wasn’t open at exactly 2:00 a.m.” The konbini clerk called 110 after suffering damage.
