Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest had Xbox president Phil Spencer appear alongside director Naoki Yoshida to announce that FFXIV is joining Xbox platforms, but that’s not all – Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P among fans) says he wants the game on as many platforms as possible.
In an interview with Famitsu, Yoshida (seen right above) explained that Phil Spencer (middle above) was the one who pushed hard for FFXIV to be made available on Xbox platforms, when up until now it has been exclusive to PC and PlayStation, due to Sony being involved on the tech side of FFXIV’s development (for PS3) at first. It took long talks to get over every hurdle between Sony and Microsoft to get the game available on Xbox.
Yoshida’s goal is to have as many gamers play FFXIV on as many platforms as possible, and still wants to expand the game onto platforms still not supported, saying that he definitely plans on fulfilling that someday, from both director and businessman perspectives.
With rumors of Nintendo’s next console continuing to swirl, perhaps even Nintendo players will be able to join the MMO in the near future.
