It appears that a hero is in dire need of help, as a burglar has been apprehended this past week in Shizuoka on the count of theft of Kamen Rider-related goods, which were mostly different versions of the all-important transformation belt.
The apprehended thief was a man in his fifties who was in charge of renovating the house in question, who ran away with seven pieces of Kamen Rider series merch worth around 130,000 yen (around $875 USD). The theft itself occurred in the second half of August this year, with the victim going to the police after his family noticed his missing merch.
Suspicions rose regarding the renovation worker, and after the man was apprehended, he admitted to his crimes, showing off the stolen goods, which were mostly Kamen Rider transformation belts for adults.
One otaku online explained the importance of such merch – what was stolen were not just regular children’s toys, but limited edition replicas wanted by many collectors, only made for a short limited time each.
